One of my favourite Australian parrots is the iconic Pink Cockatoo (formerly Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo).
These cockatoos are critically endangered in Victoria, with the only populations found in the Victorian mallee. During a trip to Wyperfeld National Park in the state’s north-west, I was very keen to attempt to locate this species. As I approached the park passing through the small town of Patchewollock, it started absolutely bucketing down rain - and of course that would be when I spotted my first Pinkies! I braved the rains and spent some time photographing the cockies as they were busy feeding on the native Slender Cypress-pines in town. As the rains became heavier, the birds decided it was a good time to nap! I got absolutely drenched but it was well worth the soaking to produce this image.
PRINT INFORMATION
All prints are produced by a local professional printer in Melbourne with whom I’ve been working with for a number of years. Finished prints are of exceptional quality (I have several in my own home!). Prints are produced on museum grade Canson Lustre Premium papers, designed to comply with the highest lifespan requirements, using high quality archival inks, to ensure an exceptional finished product.
Note all prints are produced to order and come rolled for safe transport. You will need to have them mounted and framed before displaying.
